How we handle your data

• Your story and the details you choose to add (name or alias, date, city, your Breeze date answer and card colour). These are published publicly after moderation. If you sign your story, the name you typed is shown with it.
• Your email, if you give it. We only use it to contact you if your story is featured or wins something. It's never shown publicly, never used for marketing, and deleted after the campaign.
• First-party cookies and browser storage for voting, abuse protection and anonymous usage statistics; see the short list below.
• Anonymous usage statistics (pages viewed, referrer, campaign source and device type) so we understand how the site is used.
• A one-way hashed version of your IP address, used for spam and abuse protection on submissions and votes, and deleted after 30 days.

• bz_vt cookie: a private, server-issued voting token that enforces one vote per story; browser scripts cannot read it.
• bz_vid cookie: an anonymous visitor ID for submission limits, reports and visit statistics.
• bz_vid local storage: remembers the same anonymous visitor ID between visits.
• bz_votes:<visitor-id> local storage: remembers displayed votes; the server's private voting token decides which votes count.
• bz_sid session storage: groups anonymous activity into visits, starting a new visit after 30 minutes of inactivity.
• bz_attr session storage: remembers referral and campaign information for anonymous visit statistics.
• sb-…-auth-token local storage (admins only): keeps the signed-in admin session.

Both cookies last up to one year. Local storage stays until cleared; session storage ends with the browser tab. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Every story is checked automatically by an AI model (through our hosting provider's AI service), and sometimes by a person at Breeze, before it goes live.

Our hosting and database (Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase) and the AI moderation provider handle data on our behalf, only to run this site.

• Published stories stay up until they're removed.
• Hashed IP addresses are cleared after 30 days.
• Usage statistics are deleted after 13 months.
• Reports on stories that have been dealt with are deleted after 12 months.
• Emails are deleted after the campaign.

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email privacy@breeze.social.

You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
